In Memory

Gorman Frederickson

Gorman Frederickson passed away early the morning of July 18, 2017 from an agressive cancer of the pancreas, liver, and spleen. He lasted just a few days in hospice. For those of us who knew him in high school, we only got a glimmer of what this man would become. Gorman was a career high school teacher who inspired thousands. Read their heartfelt tributes on his Facebook page. And please extend your condolences to his widow, Faie Louise Fergeson Frederickson.

Gorman was officially diagnosed on July 3rd with pancreatic cancer that had spread to his liver and spleen. It was such an aggressive fast moving cancer that no treatment was planned. He admitted himself to Hospice on July 11th and passed away shortly after midnight on July 18, 2017.

In the last conversation he and I shared, he said he had "no regrets" as he and Faie had lived the fullest life possible and traveled the world over extensively for work and for pleasure.

He and I had become best of friends over the last 3 1/2 years and were able to visit each other in our homes with our spouses even though we lived 1000 miles apart. The reunion of 2014 sparked our friendship when we couples so enjoyed each other's company. He will be mightily missed.

We were very good friends in school, and I'm glad that I was able to re-connect with him over the past few months.  He will be truly missed.

Faie just sent me this photo of the MRHS Distributive Education Christmas display of 1963. Faie said he loved DE in Washington and in Wichita.
