50 Year Reunion


The Mt Rainier High School Class of 1964 50th Reunion is August 1st through the 3rd, 2014 at the Double Tree Suites by Hilton in Southcenter. So far 173 say they will attend--142 have paid. 

The cost is $80 per person for everything except golf. Sign up under Events Tickets Registration at the bottom of this page, click on the Donate button at the top right of the Home Page, or send your check made out to "Mt Rainier Class of 1964" to Jim Cissell at the address below. Checks are preferred as that saves us about 4%. Cost at the door will be $80.

The agenda includes:

  • Friday morning - Golf Tourney at Maplewood in Renton. Be there and registered by 9 AM. Send your check ($32 if walking, $45 if riding) to Jim Cissell 6033 Beach Dr SW Seattle WA 98136. We still have two openings.
  • Friday 3-4 PM - Tour of new school. Meet Toni Alquist and Guy the maintenance man at the front entrance.
  • Friday 6 PM to midnight - Hospitality Suite at DoubleTree in the Summit room as well as the terrace outside. Free drinks and appetizers, music in background, talk is the thing. If you haven't paid in advance we will accept cash, checks, and credit cards. Preview and bid on Silent Auction items in the Rainier room across the hall. We already have over 25 items including boat cruises, hotel stays, original artwork, etc. After retiring our debt and funding this website through 2024, proceeds from the auction will be used to fund a scholarship/legacy project at the school. 
  • Saturday 10:30 to 11:30 AM -- Tour and pickup basketball game at the Des Moines Fieldhouse. Meet Jim Cissell at the front entrance. Bring your basketball shoes.
  • Get discounts for the Space Needle, Aquarium, Zoo, Museum of Flight, Science Center, EMP etc with a CityPass www.citypass.com/seattle Visit www.seattlesouthside.com for coupons good for $2 to $10 off on food, museums, shopping, etc.--or pick them up across the street from the DoubleTree at the Westfield Southcenter Mall in the Seattle Southside Visitors Services Center. See www.DestinationDesMoines.org for Des Mointes events. And don't forget, it's SeaFair week so there's plenty to do all week -- www.seafair.com Check http://gonw.about.com/ for other sites and events in the area. Then, talk to your friends and create your own mini-reunions.
  • Saturday 6 PM to midnight - 4-course dinner, free drinks, videographer, roving mic, silent auction, trivia games, and dancing to a live 5-piece band featuring classmate Bruce Robertson and Friends. With The Accents, Bruce played the Spanish Castle and all the big west coast rock festivals. His group includes John Hanford of the Wailers. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0zLUSV7qsiA Dress is whatever you're comfortable in--from shorts to formal. The schedule which will also be on the tables:
  • 6:00 Doors open.
  • 6:15 Sign in, name tags, greeting committee, Silent Auction, general announcements.
  • 6:30 to 7:00 Polly Kaiser will help you complete your website Profile.
  • 6:50 Call to dinner. Usher will release tables.
  • 7:00 – 8:30 Four course buffet dinner--salmon, tri-tip, meatloaf, pasta, salads, veges,  potatoes, rolls, fruit, deserts.
  • 7:30 Welcoming remarks, Special Guests/teachers, roving mic, open mic.
  • 8:30 Group Alma Mater and class song -- lyrics on tables. Greetings, recognitions.
  • 8:45 Silent Auction closes. 
  • 8:50 Craig Martinson tribute to Departed Rams. Introduce band.
  • 9:00 to midnight: Bruce Robertson and Friends play live music for your dancing and listening pleasure. They will do requests for a $10 contribution to the scholarship fund.
  • 11:30 Band plays last number, encourage people keep in touch, promote Sunday brunch, website on back of name tags, return your name tag if coming Sunday.
  • Midnight: room closes, we drift off to private Hospitality Suites or pumpkin carriage rides home.
  • Sunday 9 AM to 12 noon - breakfast brunch at the DoubleTree Harvest Restaurant, then your choice of activities in the Southcenter area. See Saturday above. 
  • Under Events Tickets Registration (below) make sure you register for all the activities you plan to attend so we can get an accurate head count.

Gather your memorabilia and TOR annual to share at the reunion. And email Jayne Salvatore schloshdad@aol.com with items you'd like to donate to the Silent Auction.
