I got to know Dena after graduating from Mt. Rainier. I knew of her ongoing battle with her seizures and how upsetting is was for her. Dena told me once that her epilepsy was caused by a fall down some stairs when she was a young child. The more I got to know Dena, I realized what a sweet, loving person she was. I feel really privileded to have had the opportunity to share time with her.

Dena and I were close friends from Jr. High. onward.She had wanted to enter the convent of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur with me in the fall of1964, but couldn't since she suffered from seizures although she never complained when a new scar was added to an eyebrow.
I remember the "beers" her dad aged in large crocks in their basement. Rootbeer for the kids, "real beer" for the adults. We were quick to help the clean up efforts if the exploded crock was the pop! (Now it would be the beer!) Many humorous memories. I can't believe 50 years have gone by. She'll always be young in my memory.
